 An Evening Showcase of 2SLGBTQ+ Authors

Writers' PRIDE is one of many events that celebrate, affirm and acknowledge  the contributions of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Lorrie Potvin
Tradeswoman, artist, writer, and teacher Lorrie Potvin, a queerishly two-spirited Métis, is the author of Horses in the Sand – A Memoir (Spring 2022).
Her first book, First Gear – A Motorcycle Memoir (2015), the essays – “My tattoos speak of life and loss” (2009) and “Why I’m thankful for multiple sclerosis” (2009) –The Globe and Mail, were published under her previous surname Jorgensen, as was the short story, “The 13th Dock,” in Writing at Wintergreen (2012), an anthology edited by Helen Humphreys.

AJ Dolman

AJ Dolman (she/they) is the author of Lost Enough: A collection of short stories (2017), co-editor of Motherhood in Precarious Times (2018), and author of three poetry chapbooks. Her poetry, fiction and essays have appeared in magazines and anthologies including The Quarantine Review, Imaginary Safe House, Grain, Arc Poetry Magazine, and QT Literary Magazine. They are a bi/pan+ rights advocate living on unceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory.
Calvin Neufeld
​Calvin Neufeld is a social justice advocate, trans man, writer and educator with a passion for human rights, animal rights, and the environment. Since 2011, Calvin has been a popular speaker to schools and community groups throughout Ontario and Quebec. Calvin is the author of a children’s book, Sanctuary: A children's story for all ages, and articles and essays published in Geez, Briarpatch, Xtra!, and in the anthology, Keeping Our Stories Alive (2013). In 2013, Calvin edited and published the book Suffering Eyes: A Chronicle of Awakening, written by his mother Franceen Neufeld.

Ashley-Elizabeth Best

Ashley-Elizabeth Best is a queer/disabled poet and essayist from Kingston, ON. Her work can be found in Arc Poetry Magazine, New Welsh Review, Chatelaine, and Mslexia. Her debut collection of poetry, Slow States of Collapse, was published with ECW Press, and her most recent chapbook, Alignment is available from Rahila's Ghost Press.
